     It's rare that I find a t-shirt that I like, so when I do find one, I have to buy it. This shirt kind of describes how I like to write. I always like to write the edgier articles and plan on doing a lot of editorials this year for my school newspaper that may or may not cause some controversy. I just like to get people thinking when they read my pieces. I like to stimulate the brain cells, and cause an emotional reaction. I don't do anything crazy or endangering, and I don't even necessarily break any rules. I just make other people think about them. I ask the readers questions; "Is it fair that...", "Is it ethical...", "How can you change the world...", etc. I like to make my peers question society and themselves. I just like to shake things up a bit.

Trend I Love: Statement Necklaces

     Although statement necklaces are nothing new, they're still something big. I love, love, love them and how they can transform a plain top. A couple of good statement necklaces are really all you need in life. (And then there's little things, like oxygen, food, shelter, etc.) Here are some outfits (all from Lookbook, unless stated otherwise.      It's interesting how people who you thought have never noticed you, pay more attention to you than you'd expect. Today this girl, (upperclassman, cheerleader, very popular), complimented me on my style. She went on to say how I always looked "super cute". Then her best friend agreed and talked about how "edgy" I was and how "different" I dressed. Then they started talking about an unposted outfit that I wore last week.This threw me off, just because it's seemed like they'd always looked right through me. (Not that I cared, I wasn't desperate for their attention or anything. That's just how it's always been.) And it's not like I've never gotten a compliment before. But, the best compliments are the ones you're not expecting. 

     It pays off to dress how I like to, and not worry about what other people will think or say. Turns out a lot of people have a positive view on originality. So don't always follow the trends. While others zig, you zag. People respect individuality.

Last Bits of Summer

     Although my summer is pretty much coming to an end, the hot weather is not. I decided to wear my very simple high-low dress. I accessorized with black and gold jewelry and cinched the waist with my ($1) belt. I went with my simple strappy sandals.

     I can't wait for it to cool down. Autumn is my favorite season for a number of reasons, but I'll explain those reasons later in a transitioning post! I'm going to show you guys how I'd wear summery pieces in fall, when it starts to get a little cooler.

     And I have ridiculously exciting news! Fashion's Night Out is coming to where I live! I was just asking my mom if we could move to NYC so that I could participate. I know that this night will be no where near as glamorous as it will be in NYC, L.A., Paris, London, etc. But I'm excited anyways! I cannot wait to go!

Fashion Friday: Prubal Gurung

     One of my favorite designers, Prubal Gurung, knows how to create the perfect edgy, masculine look (that I loooove). I seriously want to cry sometimes when looking at his designs.     I'm taking tough classes this year, and "trying" isn't going to cut it anymore. Of course, effort is going to be a major factor to my success, but I need to get results. I'm trying to maintain a 4.0 GPA, and that's going to require work. I'm taking a lot of advanced classes (and journalism!) and I'm ready for the challenge.

     I picked up this super cute top in NYC at a boutique called Mystique. I paired it with my plain black skirt from H&M and wore gold accessories to bring out the gold buttons on the top. My book bag is a pretty well-sized hobo styled bag from H&M. It's black, to match most of my outfits.

Finishing Touches ft. Forever 21

     With school approaching, that means that so is fall. Fall is the fashion season (I'm beyond excited to pick up all of the September issues). Fall is time to layer, layer, layer and my favorite time of the year to wear really bold accessories. I like wrapping around scarves, or piling on jewelry, and carrying oversized handbags. I took a look in my closet and realized that I really need to do some accessory shopping! I logged on to Forever 21's website and looked at their shoes and accessories.      Simple days call for simple outfits. I threw on my usual black and white and added some gold accessories. I noticed that a lot of what I had on featured a lot of details. My bracelets were all very detailed and different, my belt had this zig-zag thing going on, my shoes had little gold lace holes and a brown strip in the back, and my purse had cute little gold studs. All of these things made my outfit a bit more interesting.

     I've been missing my childhood television shows and movies! Anyone remember the Cheetah Girls? I use to be obsessed. I watched every movie countless times. I knew every single word of every song. I dreamed of being as musically gifted as they were. The Cheetah Girls were my inspiration for this outfit.
     The top is an obvious choice when channeling this girl group. I threw on distressed jeans and chained jewelry because a lot of scenes the first movie took place in the rougher part of NYC. I threw my hair back to represent the casual, fun, laidback vibe of some of the music. Then I just put on a few other basic pieces to complete the outfit.
